Destroyer 666: Defiance
Defiance is such an apt name for this album for the very reason that these Aussies are still together is defiant to the core. The turbulent history of Destroyer 666 is well covered on their website, however thankfully they have fought in the trenches and with this release should gain promotion to the comfort of a well protected fortress of metal. Hard , fast ,loud and played to within an inch of their lives Defiance is what Destroyer 666 have been warning people about for years, 'Weapons Of Conquest' is the carpet bombing making way for the further onslaught of the remaining eight tracks. Using early Slayer as a comparison but with a somewhat more melodic offensive, please don't be put off by the 'M' word lets make no bones about it this is THRASH and it will rip out your beating heart while looking you in the eye with a smile. 'I Am Not Deceived', and 'A Path To Conflict' sees the relentless pounding barrage of the rhythm section demanding you surrender to the Lord Of Metal all the while your defenses are being subjected to a pummelling of screaming guitar by the aptly named 'Shrapnel'. KK's vocals are brutality personified, ripping at your open wounds like a gravel spitting viper. Thrash bands look out, Destroyer 666 have drawn a line in the sand and are on the warpath. This would have the Taliban running for their caves to the comfort of their mothers bosoms and should be played at extreme volume from an armoured tank hunting its next target. Destroyer 666 have produced one of the metal albums of 2009, I shit you not! The bar has been set to HIGH, I dare all challenges.
