Stryper the Christian metal band are back again-it was great to hear a new Stryper release with 2005's Reborn, after being a fan back in the 80's and early 90's, with their yellow and black attack.
Murder By Pride follows on from Reborn, but with the exception of the title track, I actually found Reborn patchy, particularly compared to those great albums like To Hell With The Devil, which I fondly remember enjoying many years ago, with so many great stirring tracks. Murder By Pride is a better CD than Reborn, Michael Sweet still has a fantastic voice and his bandmates sound great, with all the usual Stryper qualities like those great harmonies.
Murder By Pride has its great rockers and lighter tracks, Stryper get going with "Eclipse For The Sun" and "4 Leaf Clover" two of Murder By Pride's best upbeat songs. "Murder By Pride" is a fine title song, reminiscent of older Stryper and has a great chorus; there are many alluring guitar solos on the album such as on this track. Track three "Piece Of Mind" is a good cover of the Boston song which features guitarist and Boston member Tom Scholz.
Murder By Pride is a very impressive album for Stryper to mark their 25th anniversary with, it doesn't top To Hell With The Devil but it's one for the old fans and also a CD that will win over a new generation. If you want some uplifting 'feel good' music then Murder By Pride has plenty.
