Hexagon is the second EP from this three piece stoner / doom band out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Buzzsaw guitars and intense yet repetitive riffing are found here in abundance from a band that are seemingly still listening to their well worn copies of Masters of Reality ad infinitum. Frontman Kevin Clark's throaty and off-key delivery does little to lift this out of the mire and his out of tune bellowing on "The Quiet Before The Storm" is almost enough to make you immediately reach for the stop button. But those with sufficient willpower to make it through to track four, "Mancipium Monument", will be rewarded with a hypnotic arrangement that is well crafted and is a glimmering spark amongst the sheer drudgery of the remainder.
As is often customary with this genre, label I'm Better Than Everyone Records have made available a limited edition hand numbered 180g vinyl edition, the first hundred in brown and the remaining 400 in plain old black.
