Death metal and the extreme gore of horror movies has always been a match made in hell. Although Feast of Flesh the debut offering from a team of elite Swedish musicians known as Bone Gnawer isn't considered a soundtrack to some violent, over the top B-horror flick it very well could be. Sporting such pleasant titles as "Sliced and Diced", "Hammer To The Skull" and "The Saw Is Family" to name just a few, it's pretty evident that just based on the shock value of these titles that these guys are out to make an immediate impact. Feast of Flesh is a brutally uncompromising slab of extreme metal replete with a pummeling and a never ending arsenal of complex riffs, blazing solos and thunderous drum work courtesy of Naglfar's Morgan Lie, while the sinister, guttural vocals are handled by Kam Lee (ex-Mantas, Massacre). "Make You Die Slow", "Defleshed And Skinned" and "The Lucky Ones Die First" explode out of the gate with a whiplash inducing sense of urgency, but what was pleasantly surprising is their ability to not rely as much on the relentless and often one dimensional blast beats, instead opting to inject a copious amount of grooves and hooks into their rhythmic assault.
Although Feast Of Flesh only clocks in at around thirty five minutes they still turned in a pretty fierce and sadistic offering on par with early Cannibal Corpse and Necrophagia. Enjoy!
