Drudkh: Microcosmos

The Ukraine, famous for being the largest country in Europe and manufacturers of the largest airplane in the world, the Antinov and of course the Cossacks, some of the greatest warriors ever. Which brings me nicely to Drudkh, for you have to understand the country of origin to get into the message they are trying to portray which is folk- based Slovakian Heathen Metal.? Make of that what you will but put into layman's terms its heavy shouty metal performed to an acceptable level, it's certainly not going to worry any of the big leagues. Like the 10 ½ minute 'Decadence' which I thought was my CD player caught on repeat until the vocals kicked in 5 minutes into the track. Once again the tracks seem to lose direction and you find yourself impatiently hovering over the skip button. Made up of four 10 minute tracks propped up by two instrumentals Microcosmos is not going to set the world on fire, however, from the Ukraine standpoint it's a start at least.

Track list:
1. Days That Passed
2. Distant Cries Of Cranes
3. Decadence
4. Ars Poetica
5. Everything Unsaid Before
6. Widow's Grief
