On their myspace page is a section about contacting them for interviews. It says they might not bother to contact you and do not expect to hear from them if you are not someone to be taken seriously. Well, I have a suggestion for the band, they might want to rethink that philosophy and take whatever they can get because their 15 minutes of fame is just about up!
Although they try to make an attempt to be different from the pack of black metal bands out there about the only thing they have going for them is a pair of guitarist who have a very cool sense of how a melodic style can add to this genre. This is never more evident than in the best song on the disc "Mysterious, Mystical, Majestic". They can be as evil as anyone but there is an undercurrent that is the yin to the much darker yang.
It is too bad that they don't stick to this type of work more often. So much of the rest of the album falls into the "I have heard it all before category". Chief growler and bassist M. Fabban does one of the best imitations of Gollum trying to be a rock star I have ever heard. While this is more the norm than the exception in this form of music, Fabban is almost un-relenting. It does help to guide you further into the dark pit that Malfeitor chooses to dwell in but I think they should come up for air once in awhile. He does just a bit of clean vocals in one of the other cool songs on the disc "The Other Half".
Well maybe I jumped the gun when I said their 15 minutes is up. There is potential here but they need to expand on their strengths and keep with the type of stuff that sets them apart. Quit trying to be what everyone else thinks is cool and just do what really is! Oh yeah… and forget about the 5 minutes of sound effects at the end of the disc.
