Fresh from the depths of the heavy metal cauldron is Breathing The Fire, Skeletonwitch's newest spellbinding CD from Prosthetic Records, boiling over with a delicious and rather fiery brew of thrash metal magic. You can't miss the cover design of this CD, complete with a wicked fire spewing skeleton.
Skeletonwitch are from Athens, Ohio, with a line-up consisting of brothers Chance and Nate Garnette, Chance is the evil sounding screamer and Nate together with fellow axeman Scott Hedrick make up Skeletonwitch's guitar assault, scorching riffs and solos abound. Propelling Skeletonwitch's brisk music is bass player Evan Linger and vigorous drummer Derrick Nau.
Breathing The Fire has some classic metal song titles like "Stand, Fight & Die", "Crushed Beyond Dust", and "Gorge upon My Soul". Skeletonwitch's cocktail of thrash and death detonates with "Submit to the Suffering"; they have a vintage energetic thrash vibe but throw in some darker elements and vocals, the band certainly generating some spirited metal.
