Well here we go again, another reissue from Acid Drinkers; the so called legends of Polish thrash metal. The saga continues with album number ten entitled Broken Head which was originally released back in 2000. How these guys made it far enough to record ten albums is a whole other story, but just like a cockroach, here they in 2009 still alive and still going strong, go figure.
Don't expect much of a departure musically from past efforts as Broken Head pretty much sticks to the same tired formulas that got them this far. The opening one, two thrash punch of "Superstitious Motherfucker" and "Dog Rock" are pretty much the only highlights here, and that's not saying a whole hell of a lot, because the riffs on these two songs are anything but original. However, the problem here is really two fold. First of all, musically there isn't much to keep the listener engaged, as Broken Head pretty much just rehashes the same tired riffs over and over. If that alone wasn't bad enough their childish lyrics are nothing more than a complete waste of time. Maybe something gets lost in the translation over from Polish to English, but my gut feeling is they probably sound just as juvenile in their native tongue.
If you're looking for a real high quality thrash effort then my advice would be to avoid Broken Head. Come to think of it you should probably steer clear of pretty much their entire back catalogue. However, if you're looking for nothing more than a cheap way to kill a few brain cells with a case of beer on a Saturday night, then by all means indulge yourself. Hell I'd be willing to bet that's probably how they've made most of their albums anyway.
