This has a very nice cover art, bond to attract quite a few metal heads, being lured into thinking that this is a Doom Metal disc. Alas, it is far from being this slow motion darkness. Thanever is a four piece band hailing from the Mediterranean country, Greece. Domina is the name of the female vocalist.
What struck me with this CD was, for one thing, the demo feel of its sound. Not so much in terms of rawness or lack of rehearsals, but more as if it was taken from some sort of talent search competitions. This vibe is being felt all along, except in a few occasions. Their music is pretty simple and melodic, with a Heavy Metal style. You have a discreet drum / bass section and a more prominent/experienced guitar work, which is actually preventing this album from being a totally boring listen. Domina's vocals are quite dry, emotionless, although she is not out of key. Nothing real great to be heard on this disc, but track #4, "Domina's Nightmare" is a step in the right direction. Introduced by a nice folksy lead, this mid-fast song contains good heavy riffs and some French lyrics in the chorus. A few acoustic passages could also be heard once and a while.
It says : " free distribution" on the sleeve and I guess that's fair.
