The least I can say about Gnaw Their Tongues, besides being a weird name for a band, is that it is not for everyone and perhaps even to the point of being an acquired taste. A grower maybe? I'm not sure.
Pain, humiliation, torture, S&M and the likes are the themes behind this bizarre album. You don't want to listen this album early in the morning or too late at night. To avoid if you are stuck in a traffic jam. During the lunch hour, not sure, not sure. Basically, All the Dread Magnificence of Perversity is an instrumental collection of nightmarish and cinematic Blackened Industrial Metal. Sounds as weird as it is, indeed. No lyrics, at least not in the booklet, just music or sounds/noises if you prefer, although you can hear screams, spoken samplings, as well as frequent undecipherable harsh voices similar to rasps. Another thing you won't hear on this CD: guitars, not a single note, unless it is buried very deep in the mix. On the other hand, you do have bass lines buzzing around and pounding dreams. Keyboards and piano parts are making for the melodic aspects of this disc, as well as variation in the atmosphere. This is mostly slow in motion and very intense in mood, while calmer parts are frequent amongst the reigning state of chaos. Even in this pretty strange "music", I can feel the work that went behind it, which makes all of this somehow coherent. Some tracks are actually nice: "Vertramt Und Verflucht", "Broken Fingers Point Upwards in Vain", " L'ange Qui Annonce la Fin du Temps" and the title track.
Welcome to their nightmares, hope you're gonna like them
