I was the misfortunate reviewer who had to endure this band's earlier work. When I got this promo from the label, I simply returned it. Now that it is coming directly from my editor, I'm going to be a good boy and do my homework.
I guess when you are expecting terrible crap, you are a bit relieved when you actually find out it was not as bad as you thought. Looks like Mr. Hendrix ( no jokes, it's the guy's name!) learned something about music before recording this album. Generally speaking, we have some low quality, fast paced, tremolo picking and blast beats galore, Black Metal with rasps. Nothing to properly promote that great underground type of music though. On the other hand, they have more melody going on in their tremolo picking. I was surprised to even hear a couple decent riffs in some tracks. A few instrumental fillers with clean vocals are scattered throughout, breaking the monotony of the otherwise repetitive and redundant compositions. Nothing great to be heard here, but no terrible tracks either.
Renihilation is , as such, an improvement. Now if the band can open their ears and learn more about music, eventually they could possibly come up with a good album.
