Die Hard: Nihilistic Vision
Do you remember the huge and lasting impact that the likes of Slayer, Venom, Possessed, Sodom or Exodus created? Well Die Hard sure do! If old school, million miles an hour Thrash Metal is your bag, than prepare to be whisked back to the days where men dressed as demons, carried bones to make crosses, inverted obviously, and insisted on making devil horns from their hands and opening their mouths as wide as possible at every opportunity!
What is more important is that Die Hard also have good memories when it comes to recreating the sound and impact that got the afore mentioned bands noticed in the first place. Marrying the speed of early Slayer and the more slightly more considered approach of Exodus, with Venom's organised chaos and you will get a good idea of where Die Hard are coming from.
Hasse (guitar and vocals), Harry (Bass) and H-Kan (Drums) make an impressively tight assault, with pointed, sharp bursts of uncompromising, full on thrash metal of a variety which is most band's book, a thing of the past. What that does for Die Hard, is to allow their brand of heads down, mouths agape dugga-dugga-dugga-dah, sound surprisingly fresh and vital.
Hasse's vocals are from the throat gargling school of Tom Araya, or Tom G Warrior, which for the style of onslaught on show is a perfect blend. Musically the trio never let the intensity drop, although they are astute enough to change gear speeds from time to time and keep things interesting.
Agonia Records have put together a cool little retro package that fits like a nail studded leather wrist band around Die Hard's Bay Area inspired blitzkrieg and as a starting point Nihilistic Vision is quite an impressive statement.
