Where else than Germany could this work come from? I could almost make a career out of reviewing this type of music.
Destrunken is the second effort from this German quintet, and I would be glad to be able to get a hold of their debut album, which apparently got the band high praises. Still, I count myself lucky to have the chance to listen, many times of course, and review this exquisite piece of art. It takes a few seconds to fall for this type of music, but it takes more than just one word to describe the musical direction. The best way I could figure out was: melancholic & melodic dark folk acoustic. Quite a label isn't it! Destrunken is basically an instrumental opus with just a few male words and female backing vocals; nothing prominent or out of place. You will be delighted by delicate classical guitar arpeggios as well as by melancholic piano notes, flute, clarinet and the saddened violin/ cello hues. Calm / ambient and eerie moments abound, while more powerful acoustic riffs backed by bass and percussions resound also here and there.
All the compositions reflect refinement and thoughtfulness and were given the proper time for a much mature and pleasant hearing pleasure. Many of the tracks are sheer delicacies for the ears like : "Dämmerung", "Destrunken I", "Weites End" and "Schein"
