Way to End: Desecrated Internal Journey

Pretty strange artwork don't you think? Well, guess what, the music is quite like that too. That is a great aspect about Black Metal, it allows room for creativity and weirdness to sneak in quite naturally.

This French quartet is made of two guitar players, a bassist and a drummer. All four are sharing the vocal duties, either the lead or backing vocals. Those range from the sick rasps, deep growls to the cleaner, "choirs" type. Their take on the Black Metal arts is some sort of weird, bit dissonant tonalities on one hand, a bit progressive on the other, with some adventurous vibe on the side. The progressive side comes from the time signatures and the subtle / decipherable bass lines. Fast to slow with moderate tempos are frequently found, so this is far from being a repetitive and redundant album. Crunchy and heavily distorted guitar work is being melodiously counter balanced by delicate classical tones and clean guitars too. The adventurous aspects are taken the form of dark keyboards (few actually ), samplings, dissonant guitar parts, and sudden changes of mood. Do not worry though, this is far from being an avant-gardist release. Once again, nothing bad to report, only good and entertaining Black Metal to be heard.

My favorite tunes are: " A Step Into the Void", " The Worm", "Unconscious Invocation of a Neverending Search", "The Sore of Creation" and "The Dreams".

Desecrate Internal Journey is another tasty European Black Metal opus.
