I was under the false impression this was a Russian Band, although a quick look on the label's site informed me Tenebrae in Perpetuum was from Italy. Three musicians are forming the line-up, including the recent addition of vocalist Ildanach who contributed, along with guitar/bass player Atranus and Numinas (Krohm), the lyrics on this release. All this music was composed by Atranus.
With such a mysterious/ somber cover art, anyone can see this is music from the darker side of the moon, namely Black Metal. L'Eterno Maligno Silenzio (sounds pretty Russian doesn't it?) has a pleasant mystical atmospheric vibe that floats around throughout its duration. I would not go as far as calling this Shamanic, but it certainly has its share of esoterism. The vocals play a major role in carrying this vibe. Mostly a sick sort of rasps, Ildanach has some great clean pipes as well; a mixture of classical and choirs with a little something else I can't put my finger on. The pace is often fast, but it frequently calms down to either a slow/ crushing time or a heavily moderate tempo, both much to my pleasure. The guitar work is often of the distorted style with more subtle tremolo pickings and arpeggios, including some clean ones too. All these elements contribute nicely in forming the harmonious aspect of their art. I found quite a few compositions excellent, amongst which I can point out: " Percipere La Luce Attraverso Il Sepolcro", "Incubo Rosso Cupo" (instrumental), "Il Morto Cthulhu Aspetta Sognando" , and the last to bone crushing tracks, "Rapitemi, Anime Della Natura" and "Oltre I Confini Umani".
L'Eterno Maligno Silenzio is definitely a very good Italian Black Metal opus.
