From the grandeur of "Der Ring der Nibelungen" Austrian band Siegfried's epic music erupts to life here on Nebelung. Siegfried's vocals are sung in German, offering something different to other bands in the epic metal genre, and no Siegfried don't sound like Rammstein. These vocals are shared between the different styles of Siegfried's three singers, including Sandra Schieret, vocalist of gothic metal band Elis. Her voice works very well with the dark and clean voices of her male counterparts.
Nibelung is the last part of a trilogy that Siegfried commenced with 2001's Drachenherz and continued on 2003's Eisenwinter, so Siegfried has taken a long break before releasing this, the conclusion to their tales. The band's music is atmospheric and quite dark, featuring a wealth of exciting keyboards, driving heavy guitars and lively drumming. "Fafnir" has a sinister slow start with quite a doom like feel, before morphing into a much more spirited track.
Nibelung is a good metal CD from Siegfried, their style of dark and heavy epic metal coupled with German vocals are quite a tasty combo.
