In the promo material sent with this CD, the group is described as a melodic stoner metal band. I don't know if the terms are different in their native Finland but these guys are as far from stoner as you can get. Instead what they produce is the radio friendly popish metal along the lines of Green Day with a touch of Nickelback. It is a very surprising thing as two of the members of this group came from the band Swallow The Sun. Guitarist and main composer for both bands Juha Raivio tries to work at both ends of the spectrum as this disc is about as far from the death metal of his other band as you can get also. I would have to say that he might not want to stray to far as this disc is nothing more than ear candy compared to the very good offering that Swallow The Sun gave us just a little while ago.
One thing that struck me is how much this disc seems to blend together. The songs have a sameness about them. There is nothing that stands out and none of the music on here is inspiring for anything more than background noise as you cannot differentiate where the last song ended and the next one starts. I cannot say that there is anything bad on here, just nothing that has any character to it. There is obvious talent and lead singer Samuli Liekkinen has a decent voice, I just wish that he and the band were a little less one dimensional.
