Ford, Lita: Wicked Wonderland

Listening to most of this album gave me a sense of Déjà vu. Not in the sense that I had been there before but more like the music was destined to become a stripper's staple. Songs like "Crave", "Piece", "Wicked Wonderland", "Inside" and "Scream" are all filled with the double entendres and pulsating metal that is the trademark of this profession.

Think back to the 80's when we had Lita in her heyday, Joan Jett and even Pat Benatar. This disc is a throwback to the days when the female rockers were leather clad and trying to make a name by sounding as tough as their male counterparts.

I did enjoy this disc the first couple times through. It brought back a day when heavy metal ruled and lyrically the groups did not try to enlighten us or give us anything deep to think about. Lita gives us a party disc that is as heavy as anything she has ever done and her guitar work is definitely catchy with hook filled melodies that don't quit. It is a disc that could have been made 30 years ago though. It has that same feel and sound as if she just stepped out of the time machine.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad disc by any means. It just does not have anything new to offer and has nothing that will stick with you. It is good music for the moment but fades as soon as you pull it out of the player.
