Having done a review on the previous album from Aetherius Obscuritas, Visiok, and remembering it for good reasons, Black Medicine was quite welcomed. I was under the false impression though that the previous material counted some acoustic passages, but it didn't, neither does this one.
Black Medicine is pretty much following in the same path of solid Black Metal from Hungary. There is a good variation in tempos with the tremolo picking on one side, and the more melodic /moderate parts with crunchiness on the other. To continue on with the harmonious aspects, founder/multi-instrumentalist, and body builder, Arkhorrl has injected some delicate arpeggios, leads, clean epic vocals as well as a bit of discrete keyboard. Some of those elements are combined to form a pleasant folksy ambience on "The Moonshield", to my greatest pleasure. One short instrumental is to be found just before the end on track # 10, "A Mult Labnyoma: in the Wake of a Remain Footprint". Then you have a bonus track called "Black Demon", which has a rock type of feel, still being treated with a metal flavor and some Black Metal madness. I found many compositions falling into the same mold, although variation and a bit of a progressive edge came into the songwriting process.
Overall, Black Medicine remains a good album of Hungarian darkness.
