The EP In Your Eyes serves as the introduction to Echoterra's new vocalist Melissa Ferlaak (ex. Visions Of Atlantis), who replaces Suvi Virtanen; this release follows the impressive debut The Law Of One.
Tracks one to three "In Your Eyes", "A Tear of Her Heart" and "Say, Try, Lie, Die" were originally recorded for The Law Of One, but these have now been re-recorded with Melissa's vocals, and like Suvi she also has a operatic style.
So now re-recorded and re-mastered both "In Your Eyes" and "A Tear Of Her Heart" overall surpass the originals. As for "Say, Try, Lie, Die", one of The Law Of One's best that was featured twice in different versions, now with Melissa's voice as she alternates her different vocals styles, I prefer the original's vocals without the operatic additions.
The two lighter songs that follow are keyboard only instrumentals; "Bear Mountain" is an orchestral take of the song that will appear on their second full length to be released in 2011, and "Echoterra Overture" which is a medley of songs from Echoterra's debut. I found both tracks very appealing especially the enchanting sounds of "Bear Mountain", as it appears the signs are looking good for a top second album from this fine symphonic metal band. So is In Your Eyes worth picking up if you already own The Law Of One? Well, there's the added bonus of two new Echoterra tracks, and you get to hear Melissa Ferlaak's contributions, so yes it is.
