Windfaerer a relatively new project that started back in 2006 is the brainchild of one Mikheil Gonçalves. On this two song demo entitled Glorybound Gonçalves (who handles guitars, bass and vocals) is joined by JP Andrade on drums and violinist Liz Arnobit as the trio turns in couple of impressive sounding tracks that fall into the folk / metal category.
"In The Wake Of War" is a scorching introduction to the band as they whip up a frenzy of whiplash inducing, lightning fast guitar riffage overtop the equally blazing blastbeats and a truly snarling vocal performance. This track conjures up visions of a bloody battlefield littered with dead bodies and smoking ruins. The second song "The Great Fire" is another winner that again relies on a plethora of melodic and raw guitar riffs coupled with shifting tempo changes as Arnobit's splendid violin work helps to anchor the melody.
Although it's only a two track sampling Glorybound demonstrates that this new band is certainly capable of creating some great melodic, black/ speed/ folk metal and judging from the results offered here I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't already inked a deal as I write this. If you like bands such as Windir, Finntroll and Skyforger then you'll definitely want to check out Windfaerer.
