Descent Into Madness: King of the Blind
 Houston based quintet that have been around since 2001, Descent Into Madness cite influences including Nightwish, Opeth and Dimmu Borgir. By choosing to include Nightwish in that list you are immediately asking for trouble if your female vocalist fails to deliver and it is soon apparent that Jennifer is an extremely poor substitute for either of the Finnish bands leading ladies, and in fact bears no comparison with either. This five track EP dates back to 2008 so why we have been asked to review it now is anyone's guess as there is little here that suggests they have much going for them; full throttle speed metal with alternating male/female vocals but which can only really be described as "amateur" at best.
After almost a decade plugging away you have to give them credit for their tenacity but the fact that, after such a considerable length of time, Descent Into Madness have yet to progress beyond churning out five track demos speaks volumes.

Dean, thanks for the CD review, you call it as you see it and every comment, positive or negative we take very seriously.
To answer the question about why 5 track demos? Main reason is that record co's want to hear 3 songs usually and we go for 5 so we have more variety.
I am willing to bring in your journalistic credibility into question though as you don't mention anything besides the singing that you don't like and there are no specific song references, sounds to me like it was just a precursory listen on your behalf.
Either way - thanks for the review, we're currently working on a new release that will hopefully meet your satisfaction. I'll check when done if we can get a copy to you if the website is still running by that time.
