West Virginia based stoner rock band Karma To Burn have resurfaced. Formed by William Mecum and Richard Mullins this group first saw the light in 1994, Karma To Burn went on to record several albums but in 2002 due to differences they decided to cease activity and called it a day.
But as sometime happens many years later in 2009 Karma To Burn reformed for a tour which proved to be quite a hit with the fans, thus the trio decided they should keep on rocking and consequently Karma to Burn has now release Appalachian Incantation here in 2010.
Flourishing with riff induced instrumentals that dominate all but two of Appalachian Incantation's tunes, those exceptions being the only songs with vocals "Waiting On The Western World" and the closing track "Two Times". The inclusions of these inviting tracks on Appalachian Incantation brings a pleasant balance to the album, and they are also the only tracks that don't have those unusual numeric titles like the instrumentals. This tight grooving trio really serve it up as they get going with "44", and the very cool "42" with a feel that could easily be transformed into a Pearl Jam tune with some added vocals.
Karma To Burn's straightforward grooving stoner rock isn't too taxing, and this latest album is an entertaining release that many would go for. It's not your normal release and I'm liking it.
