The new release The Grandiosue Nowhere by Lacrimas Profundere could prove to be a treat for the scores of melancholic gothic rock enthusiasts out there, with plenty of strong material contained within its grooves.
... and the Wings Embraced Us was Lacrimas Profundere's debut recording going back to 1995, and during the course of their existence this German gothic group's popularity has continued to climb with a string of successful releases and tours. Founded by guitarist Oliver Nikolas, Lacrimas Profundere has gone through alterations to their darkened musical style, eventually arriving at a more accessible sound.
The Grandiose Nowhere was produced by John Fryer (Depeche Mode, H.I.M., Cradle of Filth, Paradise Lost) and it does sound fine for such a CD as this. Vocalist Rob Vitacca has quite the potent voice, well suited to Lacrimas Profundere's persuasive music, being competently performed with some catchy touches such as the guitar grooves and keyboards on "The Letter". Sure, their music has its dark elements which goes with the territory but it's not all exactly that depressing kind of sombre music.
There are so many gothic bands to choose from, and whilst Lacrimas Profundere may not be at the top of my list, I still appreciated many of The Grandiosue Nowhere's tracks like the heaviness of rocker "The Letter" and the hard driving spirit of "Her Occasion Of Sin".
