Myrath's Desert Call is one of 2010's top metal releases thus far, and if you thought that CD was a winner, well their debut Hope is also a wonderful progressive metal album. Plain and simple, this is a really talented group.
Orphaned Land fans should sample Myrath, who also know how to incorporate many appealing cultural traits effectively into their music and vocals, adding character which elevates the band's appeal, and assists to detach Myrath's music from that of numerous other progressive acts.
"Intro" gives Hope an enchanting vibrant Arabic style start before that compelling Myrath metal is brought into play with "Confession", and its utterly heavy guitar riff (with a sound that is reminiscent of the Pantera song "Walk"), the complex instrumental pieces on this track and throughout Hope are simply outstanding and would be welcome by fans of Dream Theater's complexity or the heavy progressive music of Symphony X. Hope has so much exceptional music and many surprises it's hard to simply sit still and listen to what's on offer, as it just pumps you up so much.
The fact that Hope was their debut effort makes this even more exceptional. There are many bands who have released multiple album but still don't sound this good, and I'll be waiting as patiently as humanly possible for album number three from the highly talented Myrath.
