Naturmacht is a German label devoting itself to music that respects nature, philosophy, mythology and tales from the past. They have no affiliation or allegiance to any political group and don't want to deal with racism or religion. Well, this is very respectable and worth promoting I'd say! Besides, most bands on the label are doing black metal, ambient or folk oriented music, which is right up my alley.
From the Sunset, Forest & Grief is a one man band, brainchild of a Mexican composer named Daniel Cuvarrubias. Cold, Empty and Forgotten is a 45 minutes opus filled with melancholic and harsh patterns. I don't mean the abrasive type of black metal though, since this album is rather melodious and pleasant to listen to. Daniel has a knack for combining distorted guitars, ghostly rasps with ambient keyboards, nature samplings and organic acoustic/classical guitars. The opener and closer are shorter (2- 4 minutes) instrumentals. Opening "Intro" contains rain, thunder, ambient keys and percussions. Closing title track does have some spoken words, but it is mostly a combination of four acoustic /classical guitars with some flute like keyboards; a very nice, and my overall favorite, composition. The four songs are lasting between 6 and 13 minutes; each lasting longer than the preceding one. Nice calmer and melodic moments are incorporated into each composition, where organic tonalities and/or keyboards are creating a sense of sadness and melancholy. Track #5, "My Suicide Path" has a depressive edge, while #4, "Lifeless" is slightly rawer than the other songs, still done with good taste.
Cold, Empty and Forgotten is a nice disc from start to end and it is bound to please the black metal /nature fans.
