This was one of the albums that came from an obscure Chinese label called Temple of Torturous that I was offered to review. Needless to say that this triggered my interest quite quickly. Not much is provided as for the info on them, besides the musicians playing on this release. You have: Unvit –music, R – vocals and Mir on guitars. Additional keyboards were provided from W on tracks #1 and 3.
So what's with this mysterious and thick carboard digipack? Well, some dark, intriguing and emotional music. Fall could be categorized as a doomed black metal act. If you're familiar with my writing, you know I love the mixture of both styles into one sound structure, and this is the rule on this disc. The faster tempos are not that frequent and they never venture into the hyper-blasting zone either. Samozatracenie is mostly falling into the mid to slow pace doomed black metal scenery, filled with melancholia and depressive tones. Crushing riffs meet clean arpeggios & leads on this opus, while some usual tremolo leads are present in the faster parts. As for the vocals, you'll hear deep rasps that can turn into beastie ones at times. On the other hand, they also have spoken parts, in their native tongue, in a couple spots. This album contains three original compositions, lasting between seven to ten minutes. They close the album with a Drudkh cover, a shorter 4:54 instrumental that includes acoustic arpeggios and riffs; making sense since Drudkh is a folk/Viking metal act.
All the compositions are good, but my vote goes for tracks #2 and 3, "Fall Vol. I" and "Duch We Mnie Umiera". Drudkh cover is closely following too. A cool disc to have if you can get your doomed black metal hands on it.
