Rain: Dad is Dead

If there's anything that 'Anvil – The Story Of Anvil' taught us was that if you work hard and long enough and believe in today what you believed when you started, then sooner or later rewards will come. So what does this have to do with Italian band 'Rain ' I hear you ask? Well, having formed in 1980 they still hit the road and tour relentlessly trying to expand their membership of the 'Raincrew' and have been all these years. Rain, play plain and simply loud Rock with blistering solo's, killer beats, and thundering bass lines... it's that simple really. Like I've said in other reviews, with some European bands it takes a while to get used to the vocals with an accent but that soon diminishes. With 13 tracks of RAWK and I can honestly say every track is a rocker, not one ballad, no slushy, erection section, grab your woman for a slow one, on here. In fact I was drained after listening to the likes of '8 Bar', 'Love In the Back' and 'Red Kiss'.

Francesco Grandi delivers the vocals with passion and when you consider English is his second language he makes a fine job of it. The twin Axe barrage comes from Marco Rizzi & Alessio Amorati who play the hell out of their instruments, riffing and soloing relentlessly. With a cover of The Cults "Rain" as the final track it wraps up a very enjoyable album at an incredible pace. Dad Is Dead won't change the world but it will give you a speeding ticket if played in the car. I look forward to the next Rain downpour!
