Hope to Find: Still Constant

By citing Pain Of Salvation, Opeth, Dream Theater, Riverside, Pink Floyd and Eloy as influences, Turkey's Hope to Find essentially reveals its sound before you even push "play." But that's no reason to overlook Still Constant, a four-track debut EP that covers a lot of moody musical territory. From the riffs-aplenty rock and roll of "The Grand Opening" (the aptly titled track that kicks off this 27-minute disc) to the more arty "Witness of Happiness," Hope To Find sounds competent, professional and capable of recording a full-length album as soon as tomorrow.

These four tracks were recorded by a quintet in 2008 and 2009. But since then, Hope To Find is reportedly looking for a vocalist. It's not clear if that person would replace Zafer Yüksel (a dusty-voiced singer and inventive guitarist) or augment the current lineup. Either way, Hope To Find seems off to a promising start. Now they must, um, hope to find a wider audience.
