Scenic, The: Bipolariod

Start as you mean to go one, an ethos that The Scenic has taken to heart, offering eleven jaunty, summer drenched, dreamy, and high energy pop rock tracks for the consumption of the masses. The band which consists of Jeremy Menard, (vocals), Zach Andresen (guitar and vocals), Jay Tagg (guitar), Frank Romantino (bass) and Jake Beierschmitt (drums), wear their influences on their sleeves loud and proud, having produced what I would consider a very good and catchy album.

Sophomore albums can be a hard prospect for a band, as they have prepared all their lives, to produce that first album, presenting all their experiences of life's journeys to their audience. The Scenic have taken it a step further, forgetting the rules, continuing with their creative process as if their lives depended on every note and word presented, a band mature beyond its age, confident, having an ear for a good tune.

The grooves are infectious; the words are well thought-out, sing – a- long and memorable from the word go, being perfectly placed, highlighting the musical structure. America for some reason just seems to be able to throw bands of this quality out for fun, which means in the bigger scheme of things, to be recognised, you need to have that wow factor. Does The Scenic have that? Yes!

From the bouncing opening of "Sunday Morning" through to the closing melancholic "Tonight We Live Forever", and all points in-between, The Scenic aren't afraid to challange with their word play, aren't afraid to indulge in soaring power chords, nice lead breaks, which in essences makes this album as good as it is. The album is full of all killer tracks with not one filler to be found anywhere, which makes it an album worth investing both money and time in.

If you are a fan of Taking Back Sunday, Weezer, Mayday Parade or in general lush high energy pop rock, then this is an album that does need to be in your collection.
