With a name like Meatjack, I was expecting to hear — oh, I don't know — maybe some vegetarian-bashing grindcore when I popped in Days of Fire, the Baltimore trio's second full-length album. What I got, and so can you, is a noisy barrage of thrash metal, speed metal, doom metal, death metal and even a bit of that grindcore I mentioned. Somehow, these sick and twisted fucks manage to incorporate it all into 10 songs fueled by rage that practically pummel your eardrums and your mind. I wouldn't operate any heavy machinery (i.e. drive) while listening to Days of Fire; you might kill someone.
By the way, the band gets a bonus half-point for including a song called "Sea of Tranquility" — which, of course, is Days of Fire's best track (and it's an unexpectedly ambient instrumental).
