InTensity is a Greek 3 piece progressive metal band that is in dire need of a 4th member. The music is an exciting and dynamic blend but the whole thing is brought down by the horrific vocals of Ilias Iovis. His voice is murky, bland and sometimes sounding off key in contrast to the very good musical experience going on around him. From the information that I received with the disc they have auditioned many singers but none seemed to stick. This is a very good band that needs some better glue as the vocals are going to hold them back from gaining the popularity that their music warrants.
I really like what these guys are doing. There is a raging storm in this album that takes the likes of Porcupine Tree, Symphony X and maybe even a touch of Dream Theater and wraps it into a powerful musical experience. Rich, lush ever changing dynamics and musical styles give these guys a great sound but at this point it would have been better as an instrumental except for how the disc shows just what might be accomplished with the right voice to front the band. If they find him than watch out!
The band stays heavy but melodic for most of the disc that is best exemplified in the last song "Through His Eyes". This is a terrific song that passes through many a shifting time signature and musical ebb and flow. Raging guitar work is the mainstay as they use the popular war for oil storyline as the basis of this intense work. I keep thinking what this would be if the likes of Russell Allen were singing.
The missing piece to the puzzle is obvious with this band. They have the musical ability, the songwriting capability and the drive, all that is needed is the guy to voice what they are trying to say. When they find him this band will be a force to reckon with. Until then they are going to be only a very good band in need.
