Slayer without Lomabardo just isn't Slayer

Over the years notable drummers have come and gone and despite the reservations of fans many bands have successfully moved on such as Dream Theater in recent years, but the thrash metal band Slayer is an exception.
It was recently announced that drummer Dave Lombardo's services would not be required during Slayer's current tour of Australia, news that hasn't been well received by many fans and rightly so as they were expecting to see Dave Lomabardo behind the kit not someone else. This had arisen after a dispute over a financial issue that of which you can read about with a statement posted on Dave's Facebook page:

Some musicians simply just aren't replaceable as I can't imagine Rush without Neil Peart, Deep Purple with no Ian Paice or a Nicko McBrain less Iron Maiden and Slayer without Dave Lombardo is just not the same band. I realise this isn't the first time Dave hasn't featured in Slayer's line-up and his replacement did an admirable job but it wasn't the same without him. So it sure was welcome news when Lombardo did eventually return to the Slayer ranks.
Dave is a virtual god amongst metal drummer and not only is he a terrific talent on the drums but there is something about his name that is a such a drawcard when you see it, and just knowing that he is part of the band. He also has the sort of reputation most drummers can only dream about not to mention the inspiration he has provided to others over the years.
So that means Slayer are currently on tour with just two original members, bass player/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King as their other guitar player Jeff Hanneman is yet to return while he is still recovering after an extremely nasty spider bite. World Painted Blood was an impressive Thrash album, and they way it's looking is that unless they can work this out that could also be the last album to feature the original Slayer line-up or as I should say THE Slayer line-up.
